Grief and loss, childhood emotional neglect, domestic violence, and many other difficult challenges and transitions in life can affect how we see ourselves and the world we live in. It can lead to powerlessness, hopelessness, unspeakable pain and suffering, shame, emotional upheavals, and/or loss of sense of safety and security.
Yet all we seek is the ability to find peace and acceptance of, and a strong connectivity with ourselves that eventually lead to better connections with others. We want to be able to clear our view to ultimately see our deeper and meaningful purpose in life. I believe we have the innate capacity to achieve these.
I have been practicing in the mental health field since 2018. I have a wide range of experience in different settings such as community mental health, crisis home and domestic violence shelter, hospital, and private practice settings. I work with individuals ages 18-80.
I utilize the strengths-based and person-centered approach in therapy. I use different modalities, which include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Polyvagal theory. My mind-and-body approach also has strong reference to neuroscience and mindfulness.
I will be your listener, your guide, and your helper. I will make sure that where we are in every session is a safe and nonjudgmental space where there is patience, kindness, warmth, and trust in the process. We will work together towards your healing, rediscovering yourself, and truly appreciating and utilizing your power and strength.

ABOUT ME
ABOUT ANGEL
When you look at Angel’s background, you will find yourself gazing at a colorful backdrop of varied experiences.
She is half-Filipino who was born and raised in the Philippines, fascinated with learning and mastering languages.
She is also half-Japanese, who, after finishing her bachelor’s degree in French, moved to Japan and lived there for the next 10 years. She immersed herself in the Japanese culture and listened to her calling to become a translator.
She is also a military spouse, who would gleefully say that it was kismet that her first job as a military spouse was located at an office right across from the Behavioral Health Department of Marine and Family Services. She came to live in the United States in 2014, and her increasingly becoming captivated by this field led her to finishing her master’s degree in social work and respond to her second calling to become a therapist.

EXPERIENCE
Of the various schools of thought in psychotherapy, Angel embraces the humanistic, client-centered, strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches to treatment. When working with clients, two things are first prioritized: 1) creating a safe space and 2) meeting her clients where they are. She then proceeds to creating a collaborative environment for her clients to discover, develop a deeper understanding of, and truly acknowledge who they are and what their strengths are while she utilizes evidence- and research-based practices to help them learn the skills to navigate and resolve issues and reach goals. This for her, ultimately leads to her clients’ empowerment.
Angel has worked in multiple settings, which include a domestic violence shelter as a counselor, crisis house as a psychosocial rehabilitation specialist, hospital as a medical social worker, and community mental health as an outpatient mental health therapist, and currently as a private practitioner.
Angel also uses the following treatment modalities:
-
